" Measures shall be taken to insure that drainage from Road
C is not diverted down the pilot road. Water bars shall
be installed along the pilot road at a 100' spacing,
draining to the outside. "
While I would agree that measures, such as a berm between the
roads, can be taken to prevent drainage from road C going down the
pilot road, I don't believe the pilot road itself should be
included in this list of abatements as it has not been used or
further disturbed since prior to the passage of SMCRA.
I am also somewhat concerned about Item 6 of Attachment B, which
directs installation of water bars to the outside on the road to
the AML project site. This is certainly in line with our
discussions with the U.S.F.S. of last summer. However, that
concept has not been blessed by OSM or MLRD, and it may result in
some erosion down the outslope. I am therefore wondering whether
implementation of this concept is somewhat premature.
Yours truly,
Diane Delaney
Mid-Continent Res.
