The reclaimed (top)soil needs to have same salinity (EC -2), organic matter content (OM% '- 1.7); level/slope as existed pre - mining; rocks need to be removed (to an average percent coarse (rock) fragments >3" less than 0.1; see table below), and soil depths should be similar for each horizon as existed pre - mining (un- disturbed soil). In addition, the reclaimed soil has to be classified to ensure that it meets the Land Capability Class Ile and Prime - farmland soil criteria.
