Mr. Tenore
Page 13
October 2, 2012
10. The Applicant has indicated there is approximately 4" of topsoil which can be salvaged
throughout the site. In addition, the Applicant has stated this material will be used to backfill
the quarry. Pursuant to Rule 3.1.9, where it is necessary to remove overburden in order to
mine the construction material, topsoil shall be removed and segregated from other spoil.
Please commit to salvaging all available topsoil. In addition, please show the location of any
topsoil stockpiles on the Mining Plan Map. If topsoil will not be replaced within one growing
season, then specify how the stockpile will be stabilized. Acceptable methods of stabilization
include a vegetative cover. If a vegetative cover will be used, then specify the seed mix and
application rate.
6.4.5 Exhibit E — Reclamation Plan
11. The Reclamation Plan Map states overburden will be replaced at depths between lft. and 15
ft. However, the Executive Summary provided with the Application states overburden will
be replaced at depths between lft. and 20 ft. Please clarify this discrepancy.
12. The Reclamation Plan Map states Ponderosa Pine and Rocky Mountain Juniper will be
planted during final reclamation of the site. Please specify if these plants will be planted as
seeds or saplings.
6.4.6 Exhibit F — Reclamation Plan Map
13. Please revise the Reclamation Plan Map to include a title as required by Rule 6.2.1(2)(e).
14. The Reclamation Plan Map shows the reclaimed slopes will be 3H:1 V. The map also depicts
the proposed benches which will form the 3H:1 V slopes. The area labeled as `existing
quarry' shows that the benches will run parallel to the reclaimed slope. The Division assumes
this is an error on the map. Please revise the map accordingly.
6.4.7 Exhibit G — Water Information
No comment.
6.4.8 Exhibit H — Wildlife Information
No comment.
6.4.9 Exhibit I — Soils Information
No comment.
6.4.10 Exhibit J — Vegetation Information
No comment.
