Within 10 days of issuance of this order, submit the results of all sampling data for
outfall 016 for total suspended solids, iron, and settleable solids, beginning with the
date of issuance of this order and back to September 1, 1988;
See attached data.
RESPONSE#7
W.Q.C.D.
7. Within 5 days of issuance of this order, begin whole effluent toxicity testing (acute
and chronic biomonitoring, as outlined in Part 1 B. of the permit) of outfall 016 and
submit the results of the test to the Division by no later than 20 days from issuance
of this order;
Samples were taken 3/1/89 at outfall 016, and upstream, from the south fork of Dutch
Creek. Samples have been sent to T.H.E. Consultants, utilizing kits provided
Mid-Continent by T.H.E. Consultants.
As per T.H.E. instructions, the sampling schedule is as follows:
Effluent Receiving
Day 1 3/1/89 3 gals. 3 gals.
Day 3 3/3/89 2 gals. 2 gals.
Day 5 3/6/89 1 gal. 1 gal.
Sampling procedures followed are as indicated in the permit.
Mid-Continent has conducted the tests according to the schedule specified by the
Water Quality Control Division. However, the cleaning activity at 016 has created
turbulence in the ponds and Mid-Continent is concerned that this resulted in a
non-representative sample.
RESPONSE #8
W.Q.C.D.
8. Beginning immediately, the frequency of analysis for sampling the effluent from
outfall 016 shall be weekly for flow, total suspended solids, settleable solids and
total recoverable iron; in addition, flow and total suspended solids shall be
sampled weekly at the influent to the first pond in the series of three ponds
associated withoutfall 016; this additional effluent monitoring data shall be included
9
