Because of the constant weight and compressive forces of the <br /> surrounding rock strata, considerable work will have to be done to <br /> restore the underground working areas of the mine and return it to <br /> operable condition. For example, roadways will have to be graded, <br /> and areas of rockfall will have to be cleared and cleaned. In <br /> addition, it is currently anticipated that the following <br /> preparatory activities may need to be undertaken prior to <br /> resumption of mining operations. <br /> A. Underground <br /> Hire and train/retrain work force. <br /> Excavate roadways in areas of floor heave. <br /> Clean areas of roof fall. <br /> Repair stoppings along mainline entries. <br /> Repair conveyor belt system. <br /> Repair mainline belt transfer drive. <br /> Rebuild specified equipment. <br /> Inspect electrical equipment and distribution system, repair <br /> as necessary. <br /> Prepare longwall 212 for operation. <br /> Rebuild shields for longwall #212 extension. <br /> Inspect, service and repair all equipment, as necessary. <br /> Prepare continuous miner sections for operation. <br /> Install belt for continuous miner sections. <br /> B. Surface <br /> Clean up and repair buildings and grounds. <br /> Repair & set up maintenance shop. <br /> Service and repair preparation plant. <br /> Clean up and repair bath-house facility. <br /> Complete water treatment plant for mine drainage. <br /> VIII. OPERATIONS PLAN <br /> Summary. Mining is underground.
