No reclamation activities were
observed at this inactive site during the inspection.
AIR RESOURCE PROTECTION—Rule 4.17:
Road surfacing and recent rains contributed to stable surfaces throughout the mine site; no fugitive dust
was observed in any of the reclaimed areas or the loadout.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS—Rule 5.02.4(1):
Records were inspected in the Bowie No. 2 Mine office. All required records were available for review,
as documented on the attached records checklist.
BACKFILL and GRADING—Rule 4.1411 Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1;Approximate Original Contour
4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27;Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials
4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
Regraded bench areas were stable and appeared to blend well with the surrounding topography. The west
mine area was walked with no observations of any rills,gullies, cracking or slumps.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05❑ Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,
4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water
Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage—Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;
Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Ditch 7 and the drainage through Ponds 1-4 were walked. The rip rap in Ditch 7 (subject of Technical
Revision 54)had been recently maintained. The Division suggested to the operator that additional, smaller
material should be added to the existing rip rap in Ditch 7 to ensure that voids are filled to prevent flow from
causing erosion around and under the rock. Additional material needed to be placed on the curve of the lower end
of the ditch to extend the full length of the curve, and smaller material should be added in this area as well.
