Ms. Candace Thompson
July 25, 1985
Page two
3 . See attached map (Enclosure 1) for the approximate
location of the holes.
4 . Topsoil salvage and replacement - It is not
planned to remove the vegetation or salvage topsoil unless
absolutely necessary. From the road that is adjacent to the
site, the vehicle on which the small rotary drill is mounted will
drive through the aspen grove to the drill sites. The vehicle
need not retrace its route through the grove and should have
minimal adverse impact on the heavy grass growing among the aspen
trees. A few of the smaller aspen trees will be cut down to
allow the vehicle to wind around through the larger trees.
5 . Drilling method to be used - For measuring the
depth of the alluvium that overlies the bedrock; a small truck
mounted 2" to 4" rotary drill will be utilized.
6 . Disturbance at a drill site - It should be minimal.
To the extent possible, the drill rig will traverse the existing
land surface without disturbance. The cuttings will temporarily
cover 2 or 3 square yards. Excess cuttings will be removed to a
nearby shale slide area.
7 . Reclamation plan and revegetation seed mix for
disturbed areas - If any areas are disturbed to the extent that
the vegetation has been destroyed they will be seeded and mulched
immediately following the drilling. The following seed mixture
will be utilized:
Grasses Seeding Rate
Redtop 1/2
Kentucky Bluegrass (Troy) 1-1/2
Canada Bluegrass (nubbins) 1-1/2
Timothy 1-1/2
Creeping Meadow Foxtail 4
Smooth Brome (Manchar) 6
Hard Fescue (Durar) 4
Red Fescue 4
Forbs
Cicer Milkvetch 1
Dutch Clover 1
Alsike Clover 1
Lewis Flax 1
TOTAL 27 lbs/acre
