€ United States Forest Paonia Ranger District P. 0. Box 1030
Department of Service Paoni a, CO 81428
Agriculture (303) 527-4131
Reply to 2820
Date August 6, 1985
r Mined Land Reclamation Division.
ATTN: Candace M. Thompson ; _ '- - —;1?AL RESOURCES
423 Centennial Building -J N ',
.. _ _D N
1313 Sherman Street 7 _,
Denver, CO 80203 eat i.-• 30203
L 85
Dear Candy:
On August 1, 1985, Mike Ward of the Paonia Ranger District accompanied
Doug Bowman of Mid-Continent Resources, Inc. , on a field trip to their
proposed drill holes (4) for tunnel exit location.
In addition to the conditions contained in Mid-Continent's request of
July 25, 1985, I request that the following stipulations be added as a
condition of our concurrence :
1. Tree removal will be limited to those marked or designated
on the ground during the field trip of August 1 , 1985, with
Doug Bowman, John Hill and Mike Ward. In the areas where
centerline trees were marked, an 8 ft. limit on either side
of the centerline is established.
Trees will be flush cut as closely as practicable to the
ground and pulled lengthwise out of the right-of-way. After
operations are complete, trees and slash will be pulled back
into the right-of-way to present a near natural appearance.
2. If drill pads become necessary, they will be stripped of
topsoil which will be used to reclaim the site when work is
completed. These pads will be recontoured to near natural
configuration upon completion of the required work.
3. Steel tanks will be used to contain water and/or drilling
fluids. This effluent will be hauled from the Forest.
4. If water is discovered, ten gallons per minute or less may
be discharged on the surface in such a manner that erosion
will not occur. Over ten gallons per minute will either be
contained or sprayed in such a manner that erosion will not
occur.
5. Surplus materials (cement, etc. ) will either be hauled off
or buried with concurrence of the District Ranger.
FS-6200-11b (7/81)
