f <br /> C . Steep Slope Mining <br /> 1 . General <br /> The five mine portal areas and a large portion of the <br /> haul roads and light use roads in the Coal Basin permit area have <br /> been constructed on slopes that exceed 200 . This mining permit <br /> application will address the manner in which Mid-Continent will <br /> conduct operations in accordance with the applicable steep slope <br /> performance standards . <br /> 2 . Downslope maintenance <br /> Downslopes of mine portals and road grades and cuts <br /> will be kept free of spoil, waste materials , debris and abandoned <br /> or disabled equipment . Abandoned or disabled equipment will be <br /> collected and repaired or sold to commercial scrap dealers . <br /> 3 . Highwall reclamation <br /> Highwalls resulting from mine portal construction will <br /> be reclaimed as outlined in Secton H, Chapter V. <br /> The haul roads in Coal Basin are also part of the U . S . <br /> Forest Service Forest Management Road 15307 , consequently the <br /> roads will be retained as part of the U. S . Forest Service Manage- <br /> ment Plan after mining operations cease. The Forest Service <br /> plans to allow the road cuts of the two lane roads to sluff off <br /> naturally and maintain them thereafter as single lane roads . The <br /> public access road into Coal Basin from Highway 133 , as well as <br /> part of the haul road system will be retained after mining ceases <br /> in support of Mid-Continent ' s post mine land use plan (Chapter <br /> VI) . Land above the road cuts will not be disturbed at the time <br />
