Pitkin County
Land Management
December 12, 1997
Eric Lane
State Weed Coordinator
Colorado Department of Agriculture
700 Kipling St., Suite 4000
Lakewood, Co 80215
Dear Eric,
Pitkin County enthusiastically endorses the Division of Minerals and Geology's application for State
Weed Management Funds. Steve Renner of the Division is the contact person for this project. The
County is a cooperative partner,we will provide technical assistance on weed management as needed in
addition to matching funds.
At this time we do not have a formal memorandum of understanding between the Division of Minerals&
Geology, the White River National Forest, and the County, however the attached letters indicate that all
parties have agreed informally to participate in this project.
We hope you will consider our application for funding. We feel that this project fulfills the stated
objectives of the Weed Management Fund to"help initiate working partnerships.....and demonstrate
successful collaborative efforts...." This project, with county, state, and federal involvement is certainly
an example of the type of partnering that the Department is looking for.
Thanks for your consideration.
Sincerely
--:-5
Steve Anthony
Pitkin County Land Manager
Pitkin County Land Management
76 Service Center Road
PRINTED ON Aspen, Colorado 81611
Y RECYCLED PAPER (970) 920-5214 Fax: (970) 920-5374
