APPENDIX: B <br /> PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION CHECKLIST <br /> Project staff should gather the following information from sponsors in order to begin implementation of approved projects: <br /> 1.Involvement and roles of community-based organizations,local government representatives,and/or local businesses. <br /> 2.Necessary permits,licenses and legally required paperwork. <br /> 3.Project Site <br /> • Location and time for meeting of sponsor and the NCCC Corps Members(CMs). <br /> • Distance from the NCCC campus to the project site. <br /> • Project area's climate,geographical and cultural environment:temperate extremes,altitude,precipitation,humidity,insects and other <br /> possible irritants. <br /> • Contact numbers and addresses:mail,telephone,fax,and e-mail. <br /> 4.Accommodations <br /> • If the project site is more than a 90-minute drive from the NCCC campus,description of team's quarters:sleeping and bathing <br /> facilities,privacy and space. <br /> • Comforts and discomforts:bunks,tents,barracks,hot showers,no showers,conventional sanitation,pit toilets,refrigerators,access to <br /> electricity,distance of housing from project site,etc. <br /> 5.Food <br /> • If the NCCC CMs are housed off the NCCC campus,arrangements for meal provisioning. <br /> • Meal preparation. <br /> • Accommodation of special diets. <br /> 6. Safety and Medical Considerations <br /> • Pertinent safety considerations:exposure to asbestos,hazardous waste,chemicals,etc. <br /> • Limitations that would make CM participation difficult or uncomfortable:e.g.,allergies or phobias. <br /> • Accommodation of physically challenged NCCC CMs. <br /> • Required and recommended immunizations. <br /> • Location of local medical facilities:distance from the work site,emergency evacuation procedures,hours of operation. <br /> 7.Training <br /> • Physical and psychological demands of the project. <br /> • Required training or orientation prior to CM arrival on site.Recommended technical,educational and human resources for CM <br /> preparation. <br /> • Recommended bibliography as pre-service background for the NCCC team.Include technical and popular readings,and appropriate <br /> works of fiction. <br /> 8.Project Equipment <br /> • Equipment and tools necessary to complete project. <br /> • Equipment and tools requested from the NCCC,including cooking equipment. <br /> • Required special training to use any tools or equipment.Qualifications of sponsoring agency to train the NCCC team in use of these <br /> tools and equipment. <br /> • Hazards associated with these tools and equipment. <br /> 9.Field Supplies <br /> • Personal equipment and clothing the NCCC team should bring:sleeping bags or the other bedding,inclement-weather gear,boots, <br /> sun protection,hats,gloves,etc. <br /> 10. Sponsor Staff Supervision <br /> • Sponsoring Agency Project Supervisor(s)and staff names,professional backgrounds and specialties,and project responsibilities. <br /> • For supervisors:times when each will be in the field with NCCC Corps Members and cadre. <br /> • Names and specialties of any visiting professionals. <br /> 10 <br />
