Funding <br /> This project is funded loot by Federal grant money made <br /> available to the State of Colorado through the U.S. <br /> Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining. <br /> II. PROJECT WORK DESCRIPTION <br /> A. Scope of Work and. General Requirements <br /> The project work will consist of furnishing all labor, <br /> materials, and equipment necessary to repair and <br /> reconstruct the drop structure at the Twin Pines-Mine. <br /> Task 1. Mobilization/Demobilization <br /> This Task includes moving equipment and materials on <br /> site, and securing the required insurance policies. <br /> Task 2. Excavation and Preparation of Foundation Areas <br /> This task includes excavating and clearing unconsolidated <br /> gravels and sand from a- 50 ft. x 35 ft area below the <br /> remaining portion of the drop structure to expose the <br /> sandstone bedrock beneath,. and trimming a 2 foot wide by <br /> two foot deep keyway,into the sandstone at the downstream <br /> toe of the structure. The unconsolidated materials are <br /> .from one to three feet thick. Bed rock will be exposed <br /> and broom-cleaned in the area to receive rock and <br /> concrete; so that a strong bond is formed between the bed <br /> of the stream, and the concrete * structure. ' A small <br /> loader, shovels, brooms, and high-pressure- water spray <br /> may be used to accomplish the task. <br /> Task 3. Installation of Rock Anchors <br /> This task includes furnishing and installing 1 in. dia. <br /> rebar anchors into the sandstone bedrock in the <br /> foundation of the structure. It includes drilling holes <br /> and installing the bars as described. Bars will be set <br /> a minimum 2 feet into the rock in drilled holes on 5 foot <br /> centers, including the trimmed keyway. A hand held rock <br /> drill (sinker-type) should be suitable to drill the <br /> required holes. The bars shall be 1 inch dia. grade 60, <br /> and free from heavy rust or scale which would reduce <br /> bonding to the concrete. The bars shall be set into the <br /> holes a minimum of two feet, and shall project above the <br /> rock foundation surface a minimum of 18 inches. <br />
