I am an environmental <br />6 protection specialist with the Division of <br />7 Reclamation, Mining and Safety. I work out of the <br />8 Durango field office, and I am the lead specialist <br />9 assigned to the New Horizon mine permit. <br />10 I would just like to provide a quick <br />11 reminder /refresher of what brings us here today. On <br />12 October 1, 2010, the division, after reviewing the <br />13 PR 6 application submitted by Western Fuels for the <br />14 New Horizon coal mine -- on October lst the <br />15 division -- the division proposed a decision to <br />16 approve PR 6, that was a permit revision submitted <br />17 for the New Horizon coal mine by Western Fuels, <br />18 Colorado. <br />19 In accordance with the rules, public <br />20 notice of the division's proposed decision appeared <br />21 in the San Miguel Basin Forum. We did receive <br />22 objections to the hearing. The first objection came <br />23 on October 21. On October 21 we also received a <br />24 request for a formal hearing before the board from <br />25 JoEllen Turner and Mike Morgan. <br />J <br />
