collected from these sites is extensive, spans several decades, and should be sufficient for
providing baseline surface water information, including continuous flow data during
earlier years on upper Grassy Creek, for evaluating the potential for subsidence from
underground mining operations.
Other Hydrology Baseline Data
A spring and seep field inventory will be conducted along the proposed haulroad and
mine access routes and in the vicinity of the portal during May or June of 2008. Maps
and State Engineer Office records will be consulted prior to the survey to identify any
existing spring or seep that may be affected. If a significant spring or seep is found
during the inspection, the site will be mapped and flow measurements, field water quality
parameters and water samples will be collected. Monitoring will be continued on a
monthly basis for the duration of 2008 until weather prevents access. Monthly
monitoring of these sites will continue during the spring of 2009 until one year of data is
collected.
An inventory of existing water resources within the proposed mining area and within one
mile of the affected area boundary during the baseline period will be conducted by
reviewing State Engineer Office maps and records in order to document locations and
determine usage such as well yields.
•
11
P,
