The
secondary liner must be placed over a properly prepared subgrade approved by the CQA Engineer and
Liner Installer prior to placement. The primary liner will consist of textured 60 -mil HDPE placed over
the leak detection system. The geomembranes to be used for the secondary and primary liners shall meet
the properties listed in the following table.
HDPE LINER SPECIFICATIONS
GEOMEMBRANE PROPERTY
TEST METHOD
MINIMUM AVERAGE
ROLL VALUES
Nominal Thickness, mils
ASTM D5199
40 (smooth)
60 (textured)
Density, g /cc
ASTM D1505
0.94
0.94
Tensile Properties
Yield Stress, lb /in
ASTM D6693
84
132
Break Stress, lb /in
ASTM D6693
152
115
Yield Elongation, %
ASTM D6693
13
12
Break Elongation, %
ASTM D6693
700
100
Tear Resistance, lb
ASTM D1004
28
45
Puncture Resistance, lb
ASTM D4833
85
130
Carbon Black Content, %
ASTM D1603
2 -3
2 -3
Carbon Black Dispersion
ASTM D5596
Cat 1 -2
Cat 1 -2
Seam Properties
ASTM D6392
Shear Strength, lb /in
60
120
Peel Strength, lb /in*
39/FTB
78/FTB
* Film Tear Bond: A failure of one of the bonded sheets by tearing prior to complete
separation in the bonded area.
NWCC INC.
