Western Gravel E &P Waste Disposal Facility October 2011
CQA/QCP Page 18 of 19
Top of Liner /Anchor Trench Surveying
The surveyor will document top of liner and anchor trench locations by survey using established control.
Horizontal extent of the edge of liner and anchor trench will be surveyed on a spacing of 50 feet or less.
Horizontal measurements shall be read to the nearest 0.1 foot to establish locations at a minimum
precision of 0.5 foot.
Leak Detection System Surveying
The surveyor will document the thickness and extent of the sand (drainage) materials used in th e leak
detection system. Vertical elevations of the drainage layer materials will be documented based on a
minimum spacing of 50 feet or less. Vertical measurements shall be read to the nearest 0.1 foot to verify
minimum depth of sands. Alternatively, the CQA Engineer may elect to verify the minimum thickness of
the drainage layer materials using a blunt probe.
The horizontal and vertical locations of all permanent piping and manholes for the leak detection system
shall be established by surveyor. The top of pipe shall be surveyed on a spacing of 50 feet or less.
Elevations shall be measured to the nearest 0.01 foot. Horizontal locations shall be measured to the
nearest 0.1 foot.
Leachate Collection and Removal System Surveying
The surveyor will document the thickness and extent of the leachate gravels (drainage) materials placed at
the base of the cells and used in the leachate collection and removal system. Vertical elevations of the
drainage layer materials will be documented based on a minimum spacing of 50 feet or less. Vertical
measurements shall be read to the nearest 0.1 foot to verify minimum depth of gravels. Alternatively, the
CQA Engineer may elect to verify the minimum thickness of the drainage layer materials using a blunt
probe.
The horizontal and vertical locations of all permanent piping and protective covers for the leachate
collection system shall be established by surveyor. The top of pipe shall be surveyed on a spacing of 25
feet or less. Elevations shall be measured to the nearest 0.01 foot. Horizontal locations shall be measured
to the nearest 0.1 foot.
Surface Water Drainaae Survevin
The as -built configuration of all man-made permanent surface water drainage features shall be measured
by the surveyor. Contour maps illustrating constructed grades and elevations for each of the drainage
structures shall be provided by the surveyor. The flow line of each drainage channel and stormwater
impoundment shall be surveyed for horizontal and vertical locations on a spacing of 50 f eet or less. Cross
sections of the channels and stormwater impoundments shall be surveyed every 200 feet or less of length
to verify construction in accordance with the Design Plans and Drawings and the axes of the tops and toes
of slopes will be surveyed on a spacing of 50 feet or less. Vertical measurements shall be read to the
nearest 0.01 foot to establish elevations at a minimum precision of 0.1 foot and horizontal measurements
shall be read to the nearest 0.1 foot to establish locations at a minimum precision of 0.5 foot.
Final Soil Cover/Landfill Cap Surveying
The as -built configuration of the components used to construct the final soils cover /landfill cap shall be
measured by the surveyor after the construction of each layer (foundation layer, frost protection layer and
vegetative layer). Contour maps illustrating constructed grades and elevations for each of the layers shall
be provided by the surveyor. Vertical elevations of as -built grades will be documented based on a grid
NWCC INC.
