Site Reclamation Activity <br /> April 1997 - March 1998 <br /> Page 7 <br /> Planned activity for 1998 includes; <br /> 1) monitoring of the American Tunnel and Terry Tunnel bulkheads <br /> and mine pool according to permit requirements. <br /> 2) Monitoring and maintenance for the completed Consent Decree - <br /> Mine Remediation Projects. <br /> 3) continuation of the seep, spring and flowing adit inventory <br /> and monitoring. <br /> MAYFLOWER MILL AREA - Plate No. 3 <br /> There was no activity at this site during the 1997 reporting year. <br /> Ownership of this site was transferred to the San Juan County <br /> Historical Society for conversion of this site into a historical <br /> and interpretive tour. This conversion was approved in AM-004 and <br /> took place in May of 1996. The Historical Society has operated the <br /> tour since 1996 . <br /> In SR-02 the main mill building area was removed from the permit <br /> area and Sunnyside was released from further reclamation <br /> responsibility for the building area. <br /> MONITORING - Water Quality <br /> Included in Appendix A is water quality data for; <br /> 1) Mayflower Millsite area <br /> a) Animas River above (AR3 .5) and below (AR4) complex. <br /> b) Boulder Creek above (BC1) and below (BC2) tailings ponds. <br /> c) Monitoring wells on the banks of the Animas River down <br /> gradient from Tailings Pond #3 (EOMW1 and EOMW2) <br /> d) Diversion ditch flow between Tailings Pond #3 and <br /> Tailings Pond #4 , up gradient of TP #3 , (SCTP31) and <br /> before entry to the Animas River (SCTP32) . <br /> 2) American Tunnel area <br /> a) Cement Creek above (CC1/CC1A/CC1B) and below (CC2) <br /> complex. <br /> b) Springs in the area of the now reclaimed waste dump <br /> (ATS1, ATS2) . <br /> 3) Eureka Creek between Sunnyside Basin and the Terry Tunnel <br /> (EC1) <br /> 4) Mine Pool <br /> a) American Tunnel <br /> b) Terry Tunnel <br /> MONITORING - Discussion of Water Quality Monitoring Results <br /> 1) Mayflower Millsite area <br /> The Animas River and Boulder Creek monitoring results continue <br /> to exhibit increased zinc and manganese concentrations between <br />
