Project Inspection Request
Page 2
configuration and the lower bowl left exposed to catch any surface flows that by-pass the
upper bowl.
Drainage B
An excavation was made in a topographical low between two outcrops in a drainage path
where surface flow had been observed (higher on the slope) to locate the subsurface flow
along a rock outcrop. After exposing the flow, a 4 foot manhole was placed to intercept
the groundwater flows. A drainage bowl to the manhole was constructed and shotcrete
lined and the slope reconstructed. The outlet was connected (with 24" ADS pipe) to a
second 4-foot diameter manhole placed to intercept any surface flows. The outlet from
this manhole was extended to the lined diversion ditch on TPI with 24" ADS pipe
(approximately 360 feet) for transport around the tailings material.
Drainage_C.
The drainage was followed upstream to a suitable site for installation of a drop structure
and the entire flow appeared to be accounted for. An excavation was made and a 4-foot
diameter manhole was placed. A bowl was constructed with the manhole as a drain and
shotcrete lined. A 24" ADS outlet was extended to a lined diversion ditch constructed to
divert surface flows around the east end of the Mayflower Mill facility.
Diversion Ditches
Two diversion ditches were constructed to carry intercepted drainage flows and runoff
water around the site. One ditch traverses the hillside—tailings contact from Boulder
Creek to the access road to the top of TP1 from the Mayflower Mill (approximately 2200
feet). This ditch will carry intercepted water from Drainages A and B, intercepted upland
surface runoff from above TP 1 and surface runoff from the top of TP 1. The second ditch
starts on the northeast side of the Mayflower Mill boundary and follows the access road
upgradient to the drainage divide behind the Mayflower Mill (approximately 600 feet).
This ditch will carry intercepted flows from Drainage C and intercepted upland surface
runoff around the site.
Both ditches are lined with 60 mil PVC with a soil cover and rock armor. Areas
disturbed during construction have been recontoured and seeded with the MLR permit
"Mountain Mix" designated for use in this area (seed mix attached).
