RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT E (cont)
The plan calls for having no more than 16.00 acres ±
disturbed at any one time. As mining progresses across the
property some parts of the property will remain undisturbed while
other areas will be either stripped, mined, partially reclaimed
or totally reclaimed. The MINING PLAN MAP - EXHIBIT C -1 shows
how the pit will look when approximately 67% is mined and par-
tially reclaimed, note the various stages of work being done at
that time. The RECLAMATION PLAN MAP - EXHIBIT F shows how the
area will look when reclamation is complete.
We expect to salvage sufficient growth medium to meet
reclamation requirements. Of the 42.81 acres ± to be disturbed
only 5.88 acres ± or approximately 14% will need resoiling and
revegetated. The NRCS report in the SOILS AND VEGETATION -
EXHIBIT I /J, indicates the growth medium depth is as deep as 17
inches, but averages 6 inches, our own observations of the
property indicate the average is 4 to 6 inches of salvageable
soils. A cover crop of Western Wheatgrass will be placed at a
rate of or 3 pounds per 100 square feet on any growth medium
stockpiles that will remain undisturbed for at least a six month.
There appears to be more than adequate growth medium to
resoil the disturbed area with 7 to 9 inches, averaging 8 inches.
The setback areas will not be stripped and only the lake perime-
ters will be resoiled and revegetated. As noted in the Mining
Plan the operator may eventually move a concrete and /or an
asphalt plant to this site. If that happens the Plant Site will
not be resoiled and revegetated, however if that does not happen
then it will be resoiled and revegetated per this plan.
Minor amounts of inert fill material may be used to backfill
where needed in the Plant Site or to create fish habitat in the
lakes. This material will be broken concrete or similar materi-
als generated by our company. The intent is not to create a
landfill, but to rather use this material to create stable fill
for the Plant Site and sub - surface structure for fish in the
lake. The appendix contains a copy to the Inert Material affida-
vit and importation plans for the mine that was submitted under
separate cover.
The area will be returned to at least it's present vegeta-
tive condition when reclamation is complete. Because there will
be ponds on the property we are not able to return the area to
its exact present condition. The Natural Resources Conservation
Service (NRCS) report in EXHIBIT I/J gives the background
information needed to establish present ground cover percentages.
14
