The applicant is proposing to construct a new concrete portal entrance at the Smuggler Gold <br />Mine. Please provide the Division with typical design drawing showing the dimensions of the <br />concrete portal. The pictures of the portal which were provided with the NOI application <br />seem to show an existing concrete portal. Please indicate if there is an existing portal <br />entrance which would need to be demolished prior to constructing the new portal. If so, <br />please provide the Division with the dimensions of the existing portal. Also, please specify if <br />the portal entrance structure will be keyed into the floor and ribs. <br />2. Please specify the amount of material that is expected to be moved in order to construct a <br />new portal and to reopen the 2000 ft. tunnel. In addition, specify where this material will be <br />stored and describe where it will be placed during final reclamation. <br />3. The applicant is proposing to construct a safety room for the prospecting operation. Safety <br />rooms are not typically constructed under prospecting operations. Please clarify if there are <br />known stability concerns within the tunnel. <br />4. The applicant is proposing to construct a portable parts room. Please specify where this <br />structure will be located and provide the Division with the dimensions of the structure and <br />specify the type of structure, i.e., wood frame, corrugated metal, or shipping container. <br />5. The applicant is proposing to clean out existing ponds as part of the prospecting operation. <br />Please clarify how the cleaning of the ponds is related to the prospecting operation.
