three species in the rangeland mix are considered warm season. They are alkali sacaton,
yarrow and fourwing saltbush.
Reference Areas
The four reference areas described under "Testing for Successful Reclamation" are shown on
Figure 20 -1, Reference Area Location Map. The dryland pasture and irrigated /subirrigated
pasture reference areas are under the control and management of Hayden Gulch Terminal, Inc.
The rangeland (low sagebrush) and meadow reference areas are under the control and
management of Seneca Coal Company, a company also controlled by HGTI's parent corporation.
All reference areas will be properly managed using appropriate husbandry.
Post Reclamation Management
Reclaimed areas will be properly fenced until deemed capable of withstanding grazing
pressure. Permanent fencing will reflect logical management units and ownership boundaries.
Grazing exclusion will be implemented during any production sampling. Proper use grazing
will be specified in management of the reclaimed lands. Livestock will be distributed and
turn -in /turn -out dates will be compatible with forage conditions and productivity.
All revegetated disturbance areas associated with original construction (vegetation type DHG
- Tab 10) that are not redisturbed during reclamation or operational activities, will not be
seeded in accordance with this plan unless it is determined that such seedings are needed to
achieve the revegetation success standards for stabilization purposes. Such areas will
remain essentially undisturbed throughout the operational lifetime of the loadout (30 years
or more), and plant succession and natural reestablishment of plant species from surrounding
undisturbed areas is expected to ensure adequate stand development.
0
TR -07 14 Revised 03/06
