for livestock is the primary goal in these areas. In the rangeland reclaimed areas the width of
disturbance is generally 200 feet or less, representing a minimal disturbance in relation to the
surrounding area. The herbaceous dominated reclaimed areas will diversify habitat in the
existing extensive, native woody vegetation and create more edge. The species to be
established in the rangeland are palatable and provide utility to a variety of wildlife species
and livestock. Additionally, the contributing area of adjacent undisturbed vegetation in
relation to the area of reclamation is great. The number of potential propogules from this
large native source will reestablish woody vegetation in time.
A shrub density standard is not proposed for the haul road corridors for the following
reasons. The maximum width of the disturbance area is approximately 200 feet,
representing a minimal disturbance in relation to the surrounding area. Also, the overstocked
and decadent shrub stands, which dominate the area will be complimented with the addition
of areas with succulent herbaceous forage. Both livestock and wildlife will be benefited.
Seasonal Variety. Seasonal variety in native communities is heavily biased towards cool
season species and Seed Mix No. 5 reflects this. In addition, the dryland pasture and
improved pasture types are to be managed for livestock grazing, an agriculture based land
use. For these reasons, seasonal variety evaluations will not be made. Please note that
PR -01 13a Revised 712011
