Bowie is expanding its mine plan to the north so it can mine four additional <br />longwall panels. This permit revision will incorporate two federal coal lease modifications so the <br />four longwall panels can be mined. The longwall panels located west of panel 14 were rotated <br />90 degrees. The two east west oriented longwall panels replace four north south panels in the <br />area. <br />The permit boundary was expanded to encompass the two pending lease modifications as <br />follows: <br />1. COC -61209 Modification <br />Township 13 South, Range 91 West, 6th P.M. <br />Section 5: SWNW, NWSW, SWSW, NESW, S /2NESENW, S /2SENW, S /2NWSENW, <br />SWSWNE, S /2NWSWNE, W /2NWSE; <br />Section 6: SENE; containing approximately 265.00 acres. <br />2. COC -37210 Modification <br />Township 13 South, Range 92 West, 6th P.M. <br />Section 1: S /2NE, S /2NW, Lots 9 — 12. <br />containing approximately 237.43 acres. <br />Additionally the following portions of lease COC -37210 were added to the permit boundary. <br />Township 13 South, Range 92 West, 6th P.M. <br />Section 1: SW /4 <br />Section 12: NW /4 (lots 3, 4, 5, 6), N /2SW /4 (Lots 11, 12) <br />containing approximately 393.6 acres. <br />The current Bowie No. 2 Mine permit contains 8,301 acres of land, 4,637 acres of private <br />surface and 3,664 acres of Federal surface. Private minerals within the permit area encompass <br />1,957 acres with Federal minerals accounting for the balance of 6,344 acres. <br />
