results to DRMS on April 24, 2012. TDS in the First Quarter samples (MW -003 and MW -004)
exceeded the DRMS NPL, therefore, GCC is continuing quarterly monitoring of TDS.
GCC obtained Second Quarter samples for TDS on June 21, 2012. GCC reported
the sample results to DRMS on August 3, 2012. TDS in the Second Quarter sample for MW -003
exceeded the DRMS NPL. The Second Quarter samples for MW -004 did not exceed the NPL
for TDS. GCC is continuing quarterly monitoring of TDS until notified by DRMS that semi-
annual sampling may resume.
GCC believes that the October 2011, March 2012 and June 2012 TDS results are
likely due to seasonal low groundwater levels following a dry Summer, Fall and Winter (rainfall
in Pueblo was 25% below normal for 2011). These conditions tend to concentrate dissolved
chemical species, raising the level of TDS in the samples. This conclusion is supported by the
concurrent increases in sulfate concentrations over the same period.
D. COMPLIANCE WITH ALL EXISTING PERMITS AND AUTHORIZATIONS
GCC believes it is in compliance with all applicable requirements.
3
