amec-
C) Remediation
The crown pillar at Underground Working # 4052 was collapsed by blasting. A CAT 330 excavator
was used to excavate the collapsed crown pillar from the working. An AMEC field representative
observed the remediation activities.
Remediation of Underground Working #4077 was performed placing the concrete plug in the
working. Seven feet of cemented rock fill was placed on top of the previously placed concrete. An
AMEC field representative observed cemented rock fill.
The crown pillar at Underground Working # 4081 was collapsed by blasting. A CAT 330 excavator
was used to excavate the collapsed crown pillar from the working. The working was backfilled to
approximately 10 feet from the existing ground surface. The sides were then shaped with 05V:1 H
slopes preparing the shaft for concrete plug installation. An AMEC field representative observed
the remediation activities.
A concrete plug was placed at Underground Working #4083. Approximately sixteen cubic yards of
approved concrete from Transit Mix was placed in the previously approved plug, shaped in the
shaft. The concrete placement was observed by an AMEC field representative.
Testing of the concrete placed in the Underground Workings was performed by an AMEC field
representative. Slump, air entrainment, and temperature testing was performed with results
passing. One set of nine 4 "x 8" cylinders were cast for laboratory compressive strength testing.
The crown pillar at Underground Working # 4089 was collapsed by blasting. A CAT 330 excavator
and a John Deer 850 excavator were used to excavate the collapsed crown pillar from the
working. The working was excavated to the limits of the excavator. Backfilling was then performed
with coarse shaft backfill. Due to access, the material as placed in small lifts and bucket tamped
using the excavator. This was performed preparing for geogrid placement and activities were
observed by an AMEC field representative.
D) Structures
No work performed during the week.
III) Geosynthetics
A) Geomembrane Installation
No work performed during the week.
B) Anchor Trench
No work performed during the week.
C) Geomembrane Exposure
No work performed during the week.
D) Geomembrane Acceptance
No work performed during the week.
IV)Storm Water Management
A) Best Management Practices (BMP)
Best Management Practices are being observed throughout the Mill Site Earthworks project.
MEW Weekly Report WE 05.26.2012
