ameO D) Overburden Fill Placement A test fill was performed using a CAT D -8 dozer and a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor. Three 3.3' loose lifts were placed and compacted in accordance with the test fill specification (Section 2205; Project Specifications). AMEC, Ames, CC &V, and Foresight West representatives monitored to the test fill. It was determined during the test fill that 36 "compacted lifts are acceptable be placed for overburden fill and structural fill. Overburden fill material was delivered from CC &V Mine Operations throughout both day and night shifts. An Ames CAT D -10 dozer was used to maintain the borrow area. A CAT 993 front -end loader and a CAT 992 front -end loader were used to load overburden fill material into CAT 40 -ton articulating, CAT 773 and CAT 777 haul trucks. Overburden fill was placed in the areas shown on Figure 1. Various CAT excavators with hammer attachments "broke up" oversize boulders before they were placed in the fill. Overburden fill was placed in 36" to 40" lifts using various CAT dozers, keying into existing slopes when necessary. Each lift was moisture conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique was applicable). Subgrade temperatures were monitored by an AMEC field representative prior to fill placement. Fill material was not placed until the entire fill area was at or above 32 °F. Fill temperatures were then monitored every hour during ambient temperatures below 32 °F. No frozen material was placed during the week. E) Slope Contouring Slope contouring was performed using a CAT 330 excavator, a CAT 345 excavator, a Hitachi 350 excavator, and a CAT D -6 dozer. Material generated during slope contouring was placed as overburden fill at the top of the slope. F) Soil Liner Fill (SLF) No work performed during the week.
