Work activities resumed at the beginning proceeding night shift. <br />CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES and PROGRESS: <br />I) Earthworks <br />A) Topsoil Stripping <br />No work performed during the week. <br />B) Clear and Grub <br />Chippings from clear and grub activities were loaded into CAT 40 -ton articulating haul trucks and <br />hauled to the topsoil stockpile designated by CC &V. <br />Q Subgrade Preparation <br />Subgrade preparation was performed prior to overburden fill placement in the areas shown on <br />Figure 1. Various CAT dozers were used to rip the existing surface to a depth of at least 6 inches. <br />Moisture conditioning of the subgrade was performed (when necessary) using a CAT 773 water <br />truck. Compaction was performed using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor passing over <br />the entire subgrade surface at least four times. The subgrade was inspected and approved by an <br />AMEC field representative, prior to fill placement. <br />In most areas, excluding flat areas were fills are started, the subgrade is keyed into as the fill <br />progress. This is due to steep slopes that are adjacent to most fill areas. In this instance, the <br />subgrade is inspected for organics and debris by an AMEC field representative prior to fill <br />placement (keying into the subgrade). <br />MEW Weekly Report WE 03.17.2012 <br />
