TR-25 Submittal
Page 5
BONDING
All installations are to be left as permanent structures upon final reclamation and no
additional land within the MLR Permit area will be disturbed. Therefore, additional
reclamation costs will not be incurred for final reclamation. The existing bond amount
contains$697,000 for replacement of the Terry Tunnel($253,000) and American Tunnel
($444,000)bulkheads. A secondary near surface bulkhead was placed in the Terry Tunnel
in 2000 and the surface disturbance was reclaimed minimizing any potential for
requirement of future work at this site. Upon completion of the proposed work in TR-25,
there will be in place two additional bulkheads in the American Tunnel precluding any
future need for replacement of the existing American Tunnel bulkhead. Therefore,
additional bonding should not be needed. Sunnyside may request a bond reduction at a
later date to reflect the final closure and reclamation of the Terry Tunnel site and the
American Tunnel portal.
RIGHT TO ENTER
The American Tunnel up to the existing American Tunnel bulkhead(Bulkhead#1) is
owned by Gold King Mines Corporation and SGC has a perpetual easement agreement
for operation of the tunnel. While SGC believes that the easement agreement imparts the
right of closure to SGC, Gold King Mines Corporation supports SGC's proposed
permanent closure of the American Tunnel(letter attached).
SGC believes this project will allow progress towards final reclamation of the Sunnyside
Mine and if TR-25 is approved by DMG, intends to proceed with construction on a
schedule that will allow completion during the 2001 construction season. Therefore, if
additional information or clarifications of submitted information are needed for approval
of TR-25, please contact me. A check for$150 is included with this submittal for the TR
application fee.
Sincerely,
Larry Perino
Reclamation Manager
cc: Allen Sorenson, DMG
