-3- <br /> The grass and seeded forbs will be planted in rows spaced at <br /> two feet. Each plot row will be 40 feet long. Each plot will be <br /> replicated three times on both the slope (no.l) and the flat area <br /> (no. 2) . Guard rows will be seeded between each test row. <br /> The seeded plots will be planted in mid-June. Furrows will be <br /> made across slope and fertilizer and peat worked in before seeding._ <br /> Seeded species will be hand drilled into the furrow and mulched. <br /> Estimated material: <br /> Peat 600 lbs. <br /> Fertilizer N.P.K. & miner elem. 200 lbs. <br /> Mulch (meadow hay or peat) 600 lbs. <br /> IRRIGATION <br /> These plots and transplants will be irrigated for establishment <br /> during 1978 and the spring of 1979. Irrigation water will be applied <br /> at a slow rate to prevent washing on the slopes. Irrigation schedule: <br /> 2 inches initially <br /> 1/2-1 inch every four days for the first two weeks; then, <br /> 2 inches every two weeks during the first growing season. !i <br /> The second year one irrigation will be applied in June. <br /> I <br /> MANAGEMENT <br /> All weed control will be by hand labor. No chemicals will be <br /> used due to the varied species in this project. <br /> The project area will be identified for management and evaluations. <br /> Grazing and rodent control will be maintained by Standard Metals so <br /> as to protect young plants and seedlings. " <br /> Fertilizer will be applied in future years if it is needed. <br /> This project will be maintained for a period of about 6 years. <br /> I <br /> EVALUATION <br /> Information will be recorded at least annually on stand, vigor <br /> and rate of growth. Evaluations will be made jointly by the SCS and <br /> Standard Metals. Production may be a factor to measure at a later <br /> date. <br /> A copy of evaluations will be provided to Standard Metals annually. <br /> All evaluations recorded by the SCS relative to this project will be <br /> public information. <br /> i <br />
