COLO. <br /> OBJECTIVE <br /> Plants will be established to evaluate their performance and adapt- <br /> ation for revegetation work on tailings material at this high altitude <br /> site. <br /> PROJECT LEADER <br /> Colorado Plant Materials Specialist assisted by the Durango <br /> Field Office. <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The project will be located on Tailing Pond Number 2 as indicated on <br /> the attached map. The tailing pond is located about 1/2 mile east of <br /> Silverton, Colorado. The elevation is 9500' and frost is common any <br /> month of the year in this mountain valley. The annual precipitation <br /> is 18-22 inches with most of it coming as snow. <br /> Project #1 will be located on the southwest slope of the tailings <br /> pond. Project #2 will be located on the top of pond #2 as indicated <br /> on the planning map. <br /> SOILS <br /> A soils analysis of pond #2 is given below: <br /> Site Location <br /> Top-Center South Slope <br /> Test 8-10 Inches 6-8 Inches <br /> pH 7.4 7.2 <br /> Nitrate Nitrogen 20 ppm Neg <br /> Phosphorus (P205) Neg 17 ppm <br /> Potassium 150 ppm 75 ppm <br /> Calcium 2800 ppm -- <br /> Magnesium trace 4 ppm <br /> Manganese 25 ppm 5 ppm <br /> Aluminum Neg Neg <br /> Terric Iron 50 ppm 8 ppm <br /> Sulfate 25 ppm 2000 ppm <br /> Chloride 15 ppm -- <br /> SPECIES <br /> Adapted species of woody plants, forbs and grasses will be planted <br /> as shown. <br /> •.J�1� � ti �.iK� <br />
