solids present in the American Tunnel drainage. The ponds are de-
watered by a decant system displayed in the decant system diagram
found in Exhibit G of the mining permit application (see Appendix
A-4) . The lands on which the ponds were constructed are within
boundaries bonded by the permit application, and the disturbance
classification has not been changed. Upon completion of operations
at this site, the ponds will be dewatered through existent decants,
and berms will be leveled and graded to slopes compatible with sur-
rounding terrain.
Revegetation of the excavated area will commence this year and re-
clamation to a state reflecting pre-existent vegetation cover com-
pleted in three years. Since native soils are existent, revegetation
will require only the latter two phases of the reclamation plan, thus
cost of revegetation can be absorbed by the original bond amount set
for this operation. The primary species to be used for revegetation
of the area will be Phleum pratense at a seeding rate of 30 lbs per
acre.
The second location at which additional acreage has been affected
is the Terry Tunnel portal area. This area was not described in the
application for regular operations because no measurable disturbance
previously existed. The Terry Tunnel was driven long before Standard
Metals began working the Sunnyside Mine. During Standard Metals'
operation, the Terry Tunnel was used only as an emergency escape
route from the Sunnyside Mine and no surface operations were con-
ducted at this site. However, due to increased activity at this site,
a moderate surface disturbance of approximately 2.0 acres (400 ft by
200 ft) now exists. _The major portion of this disturbance is due to
an access road previously constructed, but recently graded, a park-
ing area and small surface structures used for equipment storage and
maintenance. The cost of reclaiming this area can also be absorbed
by the bond amount set for the overall operation.
Standard Metals Corporation submits to the Mined Land Reclamation Board
a technical revision to add 3.2 acres of affected land having moderate
to minor disturbance to previous affected lands totalling 140 acres
and bonded at $347,543.00. Reclamation of these newly affected areas
will not affect the total capital required for completion of reclama-
tion efforts on lands presently bonded; thus, the present bond amount
will cover reclamation of affected acreages totalling 143.2 acres.
-9-
