Samples of the waste rock on the dump
were sent out for acid base analysis . The average ADP of the
samples was -I00 based on total aoIfuz (see Appendix ) . Plans are
being prepared to install a perforated pipe at the toe of the
domn for monitoring the effect of' the waste dump on water
quality.
General site clean-op was accomplished during toe oonomec rouths .
Metal material was separated and hauled away by a zecyclec / and
other material (mostly timber) was naole8 to Tailings Pond No. l
for eventual burial .
A piping cnanqe at the water treatment plant now allows foII
treatment of the water flow from the mine. This change consisted
of installing a 16/' pipeline from the water treatment mix tank to
the twin 10-iocn bypass lineo . The quality of the discharge
water was dramatically improved with this change .
The settling ponds were cleaned almost continuously from late
June 1988 through March 1989 except for when the Terry Tunnel
ponds were pumped and for periods of bad weather or mechanical
breakdowns during the winter . The increase in cleaning was
required to thoroughly clean the ponds to increase retention
- 1 -
