I was used for solid waste storage and <br /> disposal . <br /> Engineering Office Settling Ponds A - Plate No. 3 <br /> The old Engineering Building was moved from the site and the <br /> foundation was backfiIled . The Animas River bank was sloped and <br /> moved where stability required in tne pond area. The bank was <br /> rip-cep:)ed where required for protect-ion from erosion. The ponds <br /> (seven acres) were cootoucej with excess bank material , treated <br /> with lime for p8 adjustment , treated with PxoMac to kill <br /> tniVbacillus fercooxidaoo/ fertilized and seeied with the seed <br /> mix specified for the area in tne Reclamation Plan. PIantioo <br /> took place in October , 1988 and no evaluation is avaiIabIe . <br /> Plans for 1989 include maintenance of the reclamation mock and <br /> continuing with the reclamation plane �nr tne area (planting of <br /> bushes , etc . ) . <br /> Mayflower MlII Area - Plate No. 3 <br /> Scrap iron was sorted and sold to a zecyclec to reduce solid <br /> waste at the site. The "duck" pond was maintained by pumping <br /> water and solids accumulation back through the mill for <br /> retreatmeot or transport to the tailings pond . <br /> The reagent storage building mentioned in the last annual report <br /> was removed because of concern over its location (avalanche <br /> runout zoue) . <br /> No additional disturbance or reclamation is planned for the <br /> mayflower Mill area in 1989 . <br /> - 5 <br />
