Page 4
Site: Inactive Tail Pond No. 1
Reference map: Mill, Tailings Pond and Office
Elevation: 9,500 ft to 9,600 ft
Ecosystem: Intermountain, Aspen it ,T
Aspect: Southeast
Affected Acreage: 30.1 acres !S
Disturbance Type: Major
Comments: Acreage affected at this site is listed as having major distur-
bance resulting from mill tailings deposition activities. Disturbances
which have occurred on the site existed prior to Standard Metals activity
and consist of native topsoil and subsoil displacement by tailings material
yielding a substrate inhibitory to vegetative establishment and growth.
Information Response
1. Zero acres affected during 1984.
2. Zero acres reclaimed during 1984.
3. Approximately 0.46 acre revegetated and approximately 0.92 acre
graded.
4. The species of vegetation planted would be of mix B and was planted
in October 1981.
5. Approximately 300 lbs of 20-0-0 fertilizer per acre was applied
to the revegetated areas.
6. The appraisal of the reclamation efforts on the No. 1 pond may
be considered fair. The suspected causes for the fair appraisal
of the area are the drought conditions that exist and acidic soil
conditions.
7. Zero acres to be affected in the coming year.
Site: Active Mill Area
Reference map: Mill, Tailings Pond and Office
Elevation: 9,500 ft to 9,730 ft
Ecosystem: Intermountain, Aspen
Aspect: Southeast
Affected Acreage: 10.2 acres
Disturbance Type: Major
Comments: Acreages affected at this site are listed as having major
disturbance and result from ore beneficiation operations and related
activities.
