parting for the overburden removal fleet. The stockpile will always be located in an area with
controlled drainage to a permitted discharge outfall. Stockpile parameters will rarely exceed
10,000 tons or thirty days in duration and the location will change depending on the rate of pit
migration.
The estimated coal tonnage, overburden and parting volumes to be extracted for all mining areas
are presented on Table 2.05.3 -2.
The coal quantities required from the NHN Mine under Western Fuels- Colorado's contract to
supply Tri -State Generating and Transmission Associations' Nucla Station are estimated to be
from 320,000 to 460,000 tons per year. Whenever possible, overburden stripping and coal
loading will be sequenced to maintain an in -pit inventory of approximately one month's coal
requirements. Additionally, overburden stripping and coal loading will be sequenced to allow
blending of coal in the pit to enable delivery of relatively uniform quality coal to the power plant.
The CC Ditch Company's Second Park Lateral Ditch is scheduled to be temporarily diverted into
a large HPDE pipeline to facilitate mining that area of the permit where the current ditch crosses.
Del -Mont Consultants of Montrose is preparing the design for this pipeline diversion. Design
details are located in Appendix 2.05.3(3) -4. The Timing of Operations table, Table 2.05.3 -3, at
the end of this section describes the sequence in more detail. The approved Montrose County
Special Use Permit is shown in Appendix 2.05.3 -1.
The pipeline is of thick high density polypropylene (HDPE) and was designed to handle the full
ditch flow currently carried in the ditch. WFC is working with the CCC Ditch Company and Del -
Mont Consultants to ensure that the design will satisfy CCC Ditch Company needs and that the
Company will be provided a long term supply of water that is equal or better than their current
supply. The plan also ensures that no downstream user will be interrupted at any time, since the
work will be conducted in between irrigation seasons.
Section 2.05.3 Page 4 November 2011
