August 14, 2012 C- 1981 - 010 /Trapper Mine JLE
removed to ensure the spillway will be functional. The pond was holding water and was discharging. The
embankment was stable and vegetated. The Division could not locate the sediment marker.
Johnson 49R was holding water and was discharging. The spillway has dense vegetative cover established within
the channel, this material will need to be removed to ensure the spillway is functional. The sediment marker was
in place and it appears this pond needs to be cleaned.
Johnson 46 was full of water and discharging. It appears Trapper has cleaned a portion of this pond recently and
cleaned several of the dozer basins below this pond. The embankment was stable and vegetated.
Covote was holding water but not discharging. A new flume has been installed and it appears functional. The
primary stand pipe spillway was clear of debris and functional. The emergency spillway was stable and
functional.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLANCE:
Two of the draglines were out of service at the time of the inspection. One dragline was working in the K Pit area.
The truck loader team was mining in K Pit. Trapper has created a short walk road to move one of the draglines to
a new bench north and east of their current position.
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
Portions of parcels F- AB -01, 02, 03, 05, 06 07, 08, 09, 10 and I 1 were walked. I was dropped off near the
southern end of topsoil stockpile F95 -2 and I walked in a south east direction back to the top of the 2011 topsoil
lay down area. The vegetation was very dry due to the lack of recent precipitation. The majority of the area was
well vegetated with dense stands of perennial grass established, Parcels F -AB -10 and 11 had some desirable
species established, however the primary vegetation observed in these parcels was Kochia.
SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
Two larger erosion gullies were observed in parcels F -AB -03 and F- AB -07. These gullies were in excess of 24
inched in depths in several places and did not appear to be healing them themselves. Enclosed with this report is a
map with the location of the gullies depicted. The location of these gullies was collected using a Trimble Yuma
GPS unit. The gullies will need to be stabilized and monitored.
SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02:
All of the mine entrance signs and blasting warning signs depicted on Map M7 of the permit were inspected.
These signs contained the necessary information and were maintained. Several of the more remote signs had been
shot but were not substantially damaged.
The permit boundary is marked with metal T -posts with a white PVC cylinder attached to the top with a black "P"
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 6 of 11
