Mr. Peter Hays
RE: City of Greeley M- 2002 -020
August 10, 2012
17. The SE Pond will be dewatered to allow for construction of two berms that will separate
the pond area designated for backfilling. This process is shown on the revised
Exhibit C -5 attached. The dewatering will only occur to dry the pond bottom sufficiently
for equipment access (assumed to be approximately 20 feet). The berms will be created
by placing fill material excavated from the mining cell. On the water side of the berm,
3H:1V slopes will be created. Following creation of the berms, dewatering will cease
and backfilling will begin. When sufficient backfill material is temporarily stockpiled on
the north bank of the pond, the material will be pushed into the pond (north and west of
the berms) using dozers or other appropriate equipment. The backfilling will continue
until the backfill material reaches the berms and open water is minimized or eliminated.
6.4.5 Exhibit E — Reclamation Plan
18. It is anticipated that the site will be released from the MLRB permit prior to significant
trail or other public facility creation. However, if the site is still covered by the permit at
the time of these improvements, a technical revision will be submitted prior to the
changes being made.
19. It is anticipated that the site will be released from the MLRB permit prior to installation
of the inlet and outlet works. However, if the site is still covered by the permit at the
time of these improvements, a technical revision will be submitted prior to the changes
being made.
20. The site will be included in the City of Greeley Noxious Weed Program.
21. During reclamation, freshly seeded areas will be covered with 4,000 pounds of certified
weed -less mulch per acre.
22. The backfilling process for the NE and SE ponds is described in #17 above. Structures or
other facilities are not proposed for the backfilled areas, therefore, no compaction
specifications are proposed.
6.4.7 Exhibit G — Water Information
23. The last two sentences of the first paragraph of Exhibit G, Water Information, should
read:
"The proposed amendment area includes 197.51 acres. Including the
89.16 acres in the existing 25 Avenue Site, the total proposed permit area
is 286.67 acres."
24. Quarterly depth to groundwater data collected from wells identified on revised
Exhibit C -5 will be submitted as part of the Division annual reports.
