A
Refuse and Trash Disposal Plan Page 3
B. The construction and maintenance of a surface drainage control
system adjacent to the refuse and trash disposal site. Refer
to Surface Drainage Control map, Mayflower Mill.
The second phase of the Mayflower Mill refuse and trash disposal plan would
consist of:
1. The excavation of a suitable earthen containment dike adjoining the
existing refuse area; refer to map. The burial cell this dike could
create would be suitable for the containment, compaction and final
burial of future mill refuse.
2. The institution of a refuse and trash segregation program that will
initially separate metals, wood, reagent containers and other materials.
This program would consist of the following:
A. The stockpiling of all metal for the sale as scrap metal, burial
and/or re-use.
B. The construction of a reagent container decontamination station
within the mill proper.
C. The insitu burial of all other materials within the proposed cell
area.
3. The construction of wind fencing so as to alleviate the migration of
materials.
4. The maintenance of all site components of the Mayflower Mill refuse
and trash plan.
5. The future containment earthen capping and revegetation of the proposed
cell. This would follow similar criteria already stated in the American
Tunnel Refuse and Trash Plan.
Terry Tunnel
The Terry Tunnel refuse approximately consists of the following:
Wood - Spent timber
Metal - Rail, pipe, etc.
The Terry Tunnel refuse program would consist of the following:
1. The cleanup, containment and insitu burial of all refuse on the
site. The existing mine sludge pits would be utilized for this
purpose.
2. The excavation of a suitable pit for future insitu disposal of
wood and metal refuse.
3. The transportation to the Mayflower Mill refuse disposal site
any other materials not suitable for burial at the Terry Tunnel
site proper.
