Embankment outslopes appeared stable. <br /> Mayflower Pond 4 - Pond 4 is active. Relocated tailings from Mine Remediation Projects and pond <br /> sludge from American Tunnel water treatment facility are being deposited at Pond 4. Embankment <br /> outslopes appeared stable and well vegetated. Upland diversion ditches for ponds appeared well <br /> maintained and stable. <br /> Haul Road - Haul road from Pond 4 Borrow Area to Ponds 1 & 2 had been reclaimed in accordance <br /> with reclamation plan and in accordance with the Act and Rules and Regulations. Road cut and <br /> fill areas had been backfilled and graded to blend with natural topography. Vegetative cover was <br /> dense and diverse. Various grasses, shrubs and tree seedlings were evident. Reclaimed areas <br /> appeared stable, no evidence of slumping, settling or excessive erosion were observed. <br /> Ransom Portal MRP - Backfilling and grading of the Ransom Portal appeared to have been <br /> completed in accordance with conditions of the Consent Decree and in accordance with the Act <br /> and Rules and Regulations. Portal had been backfilled with native material and graded to blend with <br /> cut slope from county road construction. Operator stated that tunnel had been backfilled <br /> approximately 40', to competent rock. Culvert outlet was evident on fill side of road embankment. <br /> Culvert discharge was visually estimated at 10 gpm, discharge appeared clear. Culvert drains <br /> portion of the tunnel in front of the bulkhead where surface waters enter tunnel through heavily <br /> fractured surface rock. Seeps and/or springs were not observed along backfilled area. DMG <br /> previously inspected bulkhead forms prior to bulkhead pour and verified that bulkhead forms and <br /> reinforcement cages had been constructed in accordance with approved plans. DRISCO 6" pipe <br /> also extended from fill side of road embankment. Operator stated that DRISCO pipe provided <br /> drainage ditch outlet for county road. <br /> Eureka Tailings MRP - Tailings relocation and area grading appeared to have been completed in <br /> accordance with conditions of the Consent Decree and in accordance with the Act and Rules and <br /> Regulations. Pockets of additional tailings, not previously identified within the agreement between <br /> SGC and WQCD, were discovered and relocated to Mayflower Pond 4. Relocated tailings were <br /> neutralized with high pH materials at Mayflower Pond 4. Limestone materials were also <br /> incorporated into excavated areas at Eureka during backfilling and grading of affected areas. <br /> Eureka affected areas were seeded and mulched, evidence of seed and mulch were observed. <br /> Approximately 60 tree seedlings and 60 shrubs were transplanted. Spruce and limber pine <br /> seedlings and various deciduous shrubs were evident. Mining related metal debris and discarded <br /> equipment had been removed from the Eureka site. Seeding, mulch, and tree and shrub transplants <br /> were not required by the Consent Decree.
