November 1999 Monthly Report
Page 3
Cement Creek Diversion and Water Treatment
Following notice, Cement Creek diversion and water treatment was suspended on June 1,
1999. Monitoring results through September had not revealed a reason to resume
treatment. Sunnyside continued to evaluate whether resumption of Cement Creek
diversion and treatment should occur through October. Due to unusual precipitation
conditions that Sunnyside had observed in Cement Creek during the summer and fall,
Sunnyside, on a temporary basis, resumed Cement Creek diversion and treatment on
November 22, 1999.
The November, 1999 monitoring results for; dissolved metals in the AT-004 discharge;
Cement Creek (CC-1); American Tunnel flow before treatment (AT-INFEL); and
Cement Creek below the AT-004 discharge point (CC-20) were not received by the date
of this report. They will be submitted with the December report.
Mainstem Stream Monitoring and Reference Point Stream Monitoring
Sunnyside sampled the reference point (A-72)on November 3, 1999. The results from
this sample are attached. The Bureau of Reclamation sampled the other three gaging
stations (A-68, C-48 and M-34).
The provisional flow at A-72 on November 3, 1999 was 201 cfs, which places this
sample result in the intermediate flow category (100<Q<300cfs). The dissolved zinc
value for this sample, obtained by averaging the results from two labs, was 697 ug/1.
The index number for the November sample is calculated as follows:
Xi = 697
Xf= 399
Sf= 144
Ni = (Xi— Xf) /Sf
Ni = (697 — 399) /144
Ni = +2.07
The index number graph and updated reporting table are attached.
