Tom Bird, GCCE
C- 1981 -035 RN -6 PAR #2
Section 2.05.4 Reclamation Plan
August 7, 2012
Page 2 of this section (King I) addresses the surface facilities that will permanently remain
on site following reclamation. Based on observations made during routine inspections of the
King I surface facilities area, it appears that the shop and upper pump house have been
removed. Presently, the bath house, sales office, substation, lower pump house, 37,000
gallon water tank, laboratory /storage building, and the storage building adjacent to Burnwell
92 Tipple are still on the site. Please review this section and update as necessary.
The list of surface facilities was updated, as requested. Item resolved.
2. The Grading and Backfilling and Waste Pile Reclamation subsections on page 4 (King I)
may also require changes with the future TR application. Please ensure that these to
portions of this section are consistent with any changes proposed to the waste bank designs
in Appendix 10.
The Grading and Backfilling paragraph regarding backfilling of the highwall was replaced
by a reference to the forthcoming TR. Item resolved.
This concludes the Division's second adequacy review of the King Coal Mine permit for Permit
Renewal No. 6 (RN -6). Please contact me with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Marcia L. Talvitie, P.E.
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Sandy Brown, DRMS
