Response: Colowyo believes Map 28 currently reflects accurate information
for the next permit term and an update is not necessary under this renewal.
b. Map 28B Topsoil Handling South Taylor Area was updated 11/26/2011 during
MR114. Please confirm that this map reflects the topsoil handling plans for
the next permit term and update this map as necessary.
Response: Colowyo believes Map 28A currently reflects accurate information
for the next permit term and an update is not necessary under this renewal.
c. South Taylor Pit Topsoil mass balance Table 2.04.9 -7 was last updated
January 2008. Please review this table and update the topsoil mass balance
values to reflect the current (2012) conditions and projected permit term
values.
Response: Table 2.04.9 -7 has been updated as requested. The estimated
volumes reflected in the revised table take into account current mining
projections through the life of the South Taylor Pit. The old version of this
table included mining and stripping to the east of the current pit shell which
was eliminated in the mine plan under TR -81.
d. Based on the Division inspection on April 18, 2012, topsoil stockpile 16D
needed significant work. There was a large gully on the south side, and the
ring ditch needed to be re -cut on the east and south sides where it is missing
in places and blown out in other spots.
Response: As noted verbally to the Division during the inspection on May 22,
2012 the items needing repaired on Topsoil Pile 16D have been completed
except the low spot containing water. The Division also noted in the May 22,
2012 inspection report that all items except the low spot have been repaired.
As soon as the low spot dries out enough to allow equipment in the area it
will be repaired.
6. Disposal of Excess Spoil
No issues were identified with excess spoil. Colowyo is in compliance with
Section 4.09 of the Rules, and no response is required.
