Discrepancies with Areas
COAL
COMPANY
O 'ss.rsoaaces '
There are some discrepancies between the amount of acres in the RN -06
application (page 3) and values in the Division's Permit System (see decision
form for TR -94). Please work with the Division to resolve the following:
a. Surface Ownership (Federal) — is the correct value 2,373 acres or 2,290.19
acres?
Response: In response to this comment Colowyo recalculated this acreage
several different times and believes 2283.7 acres is the correct number for
surface ownership of federal lands within the permit boundary.
b. Surface Ownership (Private) — is the correct value 9,238 acres or 9,320.76
acres?
Response: In response to this comment Colowyo recalculated this acreage
several different times and believes 9327.2 acres is the correct number for
surface ownership of private lands within the permit boundary.
c. Disturbed Area — is the correct value 4,800.6 acres or 4,766.3 acres?
Response: Colowyo believes 4800.6 acres is the correct value for the current
disturbed area. Colowyo also reported this number in the 2011 Annual
Report.
3. Reclamation Plan
a. Regarding the new Table 2.03 -1 submitted with RN -06, please explain why
there is much more reclaimed area than disturbed area in the total row at
the bottom of the table.
Response: An additional row with supplementary years (2018 -2021) was
added to Table 2.03 -1 which added 1,451 acres. This additional acreage,
plus a large reduction in the disturbed acres between the West Pit and South
Taylor, accounts for larger blocks of reclaimed acreage for the next permit
term.
A Western Fuels - Colorado, LLC mining property
