NMD (Panels 17 -Right through 24- Right, PR03 -06 and PR06 -07) The same mining_ method utilized in the southern half of the NMD will be used to extract coal from the northern •half of this area. Existing surface facilities, including the EMD 'ventilation site, and 18 -Right and 6 -Main North Ventilation Shafts and associated support facilities, will be used for mining of coal in this part of the NMD permit area. WMD (Panels 12- through 17 -Left, 13- and 14 -Left Inby, and 19- through 20 -Left, PR06 -07, PR09 -08, TR07- 63, TR08 -64, TR09 -68, TR09 -71) The same mining method utilized in the NMD will be used to extract coal from the WMD. The existing surface facilities, including the 6 -Main North Ventilation Shaft and associated support facilities, along with the new 18 -Left Ventilation Installation, will be used for mining of coal in this part of the WMD permit area. (2) Operation Description (a) Surface mining. A detailed narrative description and appropriate map(s) prepared in accordance with 2.10 describing the land to be affected within the permit area according to the proposed sequence of mining and reclamation. Each narrative and/or map shall include a detailed timetable sufficient to describe the various mining phases proposed b t�pplicant. the maximum acreage proposed for each phase of the operations within the permit area must be specified. RESPONSE No surface mining is planned in this application. Therefore, the requirements of this Section are not applicable to either the Foidel Creek operation or the Fish Creek Tipple operation • (b) Underground mining. A detailed narrative and appropriate map(s) prepared according to the standards of 2.10, sufficient to describe all proposed surface disturbances to be associated with the underground mining activities within the permit area. Each operation plan shall include a narrative, cross - sections, map(s), and timetable(s) sufficient to describe the areal extent of the proposed underground workings and the stratum to be affected. RESPONSE The mine portals are located in the NE' /4NE' /a Section 32, T5N, R86W, Routt County, Colorado. Currently, these portals are the primary access to the mine for men and materials, utility services, and ventilation. Additionally, another portal was driven northeast of the original portals, as shown on Map 23, Mine Plan. This portal provides supplemental access for men, equipment, and supplies into the mine. Other openings into the mine include: • Zero -Entry Fan • Fresh Water Borehole • Thickener Underflow Boreholes 1 (Brown Palace) and 2 (6- Right) • 7 -Right Rock -Dust Borehole (separate borehole, not associated with other facilities) • Fish Creek 1 and 2 Dewatering Boreholes and Ventilation Shaft • Water System Boreholes 1 and 2 • Barricade Chamber Access Escape Shaft • 10 -Right Dewatering Boreholes 1 and 2 • Substation No. 11 Power -Drop Borehole • NW Mains Ventilation Shaft and Borehole (Rock -Dust Installation) • • 6 -Main North Ventilation/Escape Shaft and associated utility boreholes (7) • EMD Ventilation/Escape Shafts (2, sealed in late 2009) • 18 -Right Ventilation/Escape Shaft and Nitrogen Borehole (sealed in late 2009) • 18 -Left Ventilation Intake and Return Shafts and associated utility Boreholes (4) • 19 -Right Mine Dewatering Borehole (permitted but not completed) MR10 -251 2.05 -11.1 01/07/11
