July 18, 2012 C- 1994- 082/Yoast Mine SLB
4.05.6, Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2, Ground Water
Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;
Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Ponds 010, 011A, 012, 012A, 013, and 014 all held water. Only Ponds 010 and 012 were discharging.
Pond 012A had evidently discharged through the secondary spillway, at a flow depth of approximately 10 -12 ".
The trash rack on Pond 012A was covered in debris but still functional. It should be cleared as soon as possible.
ST -1 held water below the discharge elevation, the surge structure above the "Bear Bait" drainage (YPM -24) was
dry.
ROADS — Rule 4.0 ❑ Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) ❑ []Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.0).2(4)[111 Surfacing and
Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6)❑ ❑Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
Roads were in good condition overall, but there were a few areas where runoff had crossed the road and
caused washouts. On Road B /LU -3A, near the Neck Pit slide, runoff backed up behind one of the check dams and
crossed the road in a gully about 9" deep. This area and several areas along LU -3B that were washed out and will
need to be repaired.
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15 ❑ ❑ Vegetative Cover; Timing:
The SP07 -2 shrub plot that was reworked last year was still fairly weedy (thistle and houndstongue) but
most of the shrubs were alive. The area around the newly constructed surge structures in the North Pit YPM -13
drainage was weedy. These two areas should be sprayed this season. In general, the weed population in the
reclaimed areas was much less than last year.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED Exhibits A -1, B -1, and C -1 for SL -4 application.
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS /COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Pond 010
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0
Page 3 of 6
Channel on south side of Topsoil Stockpile I
