July 1998 Monthly Report
Page 2
reduced and that the Koehler drainage may account for most of the
remaining loading from the site with some type of storage and
release process occurring.
Monitoring data from samples taken in July at the Gold Prince Mine
site are attached.
The Terry Tunnel bulkhead annual inspection was completed in July.
It appears to be functioning as designed although there is minimal
pressure because the mine pool surface is still below the bulkhead
level. A sample was taken and the results are included with this
report.
- Sunnyside Mine Pool Mitigation - Alkaline Solution Injection
This project was not active in July 1998. The water pool pH,
at the American Tunnel bulkhead, on July 29, 1998, was 2.83 and
the bulkhead pressure was 354 psi.
Sunnyside will continue to monitor these parameters.
"B List" Projects
- Columbus Mine Portals -Mine Waste Dumps
- London Mine Portals - Waste Dumps
Work, permitting or arrangement for access is not planned
until it becomes evident that the work plans for these
projects require implementation.
- Cement Creek Diversion and Water Treatment
Cement Creek diversion and water treatment was active
continuously throughout July. The flow of Cement Creek in
July remained at levels that required control on the water
treatment system inlet quantity. The flow diverted and treated
in July ranged from 945 G.P.M. to 1166 G.P.M.
Attached are July, 1998 monitoring results for; dissolved
metals in the AT-004 discharge; Cement Creek diverted for
treatment (CC-1B) ; American Tunnel flow before treatment (AT-
INFEL) ; and Cement Creek below the AT-004 discharge point (CC-
20) .
