OF MINERALS <br /> CDPHE - Assessment Unit &GEOLOGY <br /> Water Quality Control Division <br /> 4300 Cherry Creek Drive South <br /> Mail Code: WQCD-AU-B2 <br /> Denver, CO 80246-1530 <br /> RE: July 1998 Monthly Report and_ DDMMRs for CDPS Permit No. CO- <br /> 0044768 - Mine Remedia ion Projects, San Juan County <br /> Dear Ms. Johnson: <br /> The following is submitted to satisfy the July monthly and DMR <br /> reporting requirements for CDPS Permit No. CO-0044768 - Mine <br /> Remediation Projects and the related Consent Decree agreement. <br /> Project Status: <br /> "A List" Projects <br /> - American Tunnel Mine Waste Dump <br /> - Boulder Creek Tailings Project <br /> - Surface Mill Tailings at Eureka <br /> - Gold Prince - Mill Tailings <br /> - Ransom Tunnel <br /> - Longfellow - Koehler Mine Waste Project <br /> - Pride of the West Tailings <br /> These projects were completed and accepted by DMG as complying with <br /> the Consent Decree work plans and MLR Standards in 1997. <br /> Monitoring and maintenance is the only additional work planned for <br /> these sites. <br /> In July, 1998 monitoring samples were taken at the Longfellow - <br /> Koehler project site. The results from these samples as well as <br /> the results from samples taken in June are attached to this report. <br /> Included with the Longfellow - Koehler data is a bar chart plot of <br /> dissloved zinc loading from the Koehler tunnel and from the site <br /> using available data which includes CDPHE Animas Basin Study data. <br /> While it is difficult to reach definite conclusions, it appears <br /> that disolved zinc loading from spring or storm runoff has been <br /> I <br />
