Dear Ms. Johnson:
The following is submitted to satisfy the June monthly, 2nd quarter
and DMR reporting requirements for CDPS Permit No. CO-0044768 -
Mine Remediation Projects and the related Consent Decree agreement.
Project Status:
- American Tunnel Mine Waste Dump
This site is now clear of snow.
appears to be varied over the site. Establishment of grass
trees planted previouslyappear A good percentage of
some shrubs although shrub mortality ha appears survived as well as
to be hi .
Planned future activity includes plantingofadditionalher trees
and shrubs and may include selective replanting of grasses and
additional soil amendment activity for site monitoring and
maintenance. Progress pictures taken in June, 1997 are
included with this report.
- Boulder Creek Tailings Project
This project was started and completed during the 2nd quarter,
1997. Excavation was completed in May after 5700 cubic yards
were excavated and hauled to Tailings Pond #4 . Approximately
10 tons of limestone and 700 pounds of hydrated lime were
spread over the site for neutralization and 55. 0 tons of
alkaline material (quicklime kiln dust) was used for
neutralization of the material in Tailings Pond #4 .
