Final Inspection 2 September 5, 1997
American Tunnel Mine Waste Dump DMG Permit No. M-77-378
Consent Decree MRP
American Tunnel Mine Waste Dump area, located on the north bank of South Fork
Cement Creek, had been graded to blend with surrounding topography. Reclamation
grasses were well established for approximately 60% of the affected area. Revegetation
efforts included transplanting of willow bushes, and spruce and pine trees. Several seeps
and/or springs were located along the base of the graded slope. Graded slope appeared
stable, no evidence of slumping, sliding, or excessive erosion was observed. Surface
drainage from upland areas is diverted around affected area by upland diversion ditch and
county road drainage ditch. Seep drainage is conveyed through the affected area by
several small drainage channels. Straw bail sediment filters were intact. Riprap lining at
drainage channel outlet to South Fork Cement Creek were intact and stable.
(end of report)
cc: Allen Sorenson, DMG
Sarah Johnson, CDPHE WQCD
