West Elk Mine 2011 Annual Hydrology Report 33 <br />monitored since 1995. In WY 2011 the spring house outflow pipe resumed flowing at <br />rates similar to those observed before WY 2009. <br />3.2.4 Springs above the E -Seam in the Minnesota Creek and <br />Dry Fork Drainage Basin <br />3.2.4.1 Spring J -4 <br />Spring J -4 is located in East Gulch, East of Horse Gulch and is tributary to the <br />Dry Fork and Minnesota Creek (Map 2). It is situated south of the Southeast B -seam <br />longwall panels and north of the SOD mine plan area. This spring issues from alluvium, <br />is seasonal, and flow is significantly reduced or dry in late summer or autumn. <br />Monitoring at this spring began in 1981. <br />3.2.4.2 Deer Creek Spring <br />Deer Creek Spring is a decreed domestic spring located in Deer Creek which is <br />tributary to the Dry Fork (Map 2). It is located in the SOD mine plan area that is <br />currently being developed. The source of this spring is not known. This spring typically <br />has perennial flow, but shows strong seasonal variations with very low flows in the late <br />summer and autumn months. This spring has been monitored since 2006. <br />3.2.4.3 Spring WCC -24 <br />Spring WCC -24 is a perennial spring located in a small unnamed tributary on the <br />south side of the Dry Fork (Map 2). It is located west of the SOD mine plan area. The <br />source of this spring is not known. This spring typically has perennial flow, but shows <br />strong seasonal variations with the highest flows occurring in the late summer and <br />autumn months. This spring has been monitored since 2006. <br />3.2.4.4 Spring J -2 <br />Spring J -2 is located in Lick Creek which is tributary to Minnesota Creek (Map <br />2). It is located south of the SOD mine plan area. The source of this spring appears to <br />issue from colluvium. Flow is typically less than 0.5 gallons per minute and does not <br />show strong seasonal variation. This spring has been monitored since 2006. <br />3.2.4.5 Spring J -7 <br />Spring J -7 is located in Poison Gulch which is tributary to the Dry Fork (Map 2). <br />It is within the SOD mine plan area. The source of this spring appears to issue from <br />June 2012 HydroGeo, Inc. <br />
